For Family Caregivers

Often referred to as the "second victim" of Alzheimer's disease, a caregiver's life can be turned upside down when a relative is diagnosed with a cognitive impairment like Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's Family Day Center (AFDC) offers the following programs to support and educate family caregivers.

Support Groups
Support groups offer people in like circumstances the chance to share practical advice, discuss frustrations and fears and connect with others who are on a similar journey. Separate groups meet regularly at Alzheimer's Family Day Center for individual caregivers and for couples facing the challenges of Alzheimer's.

Caregiver Education and Training
AFDC offers special classes designed to help caregivers build their skills and confidence while learning more about Alzheimer's resources in the community. Our practical series of free "Classes for Caregivers" is offered in the Winter and Summer.

Free Seminars for Family Caregivers  Fall 2008 Series, sponsored by the Fairfax County Family Caregiver Consortium.  See the complete seminar schedule
